Title One Reading, Writing, and Math Support                                Rm. 3

          February is an exciting month in the Title One classroom!  We have completed our second round of benchmark assessments.  There are different measures that we use for each grade level:  Pre-K uses PALS, K-3 uses DIBELS and 4-8 uses easy CBM.

          We have analyzed the data of all Faubion students.  We have compared student’s scores with the fall term assessments to measure progress and determine if they are in need of additional reading and or writing support. Some students’ reading groups have changed due to their new benchmark scores.

          If your child has been a part of groups since September and you would like to see their assessments, please contact one of us and we can schedule a meeting to go over the results.  If your child did not receive title one services last term but qualifies for our support after the assessments you will receive a letter from us after the semester break. 

          Our 5^th grade math group is focusing on fractions and decimals.  This is a skill that your child could practice at home, especially by following recipes while helping you cook.   Our 2^nd grade math group is working on becoming fluent with addition and subtraction facts to 20.  We are identifying doubles (3+3, 6+6) and neighbors (3+4, 6+7) to help us with this task.

          As always, our door is always open in Room 3.  Come by anytime and see our groups in action.
