Online Book Access

Accessing SEPUP Science Program Online

Science students now have access to an online version to their student book!

This online book is to be used primarily for three types of tasks.  First, the online text aids classroom instruction by allowing students to access it anywhere.  This encourages students to prepare for and complete work.  It also will allow students to write responses to Analysis Questions (in Word files) assigned in class.  The third way is to use the text-to-speech functionality that is built into Adobe Reader.

Using the Online Text for Homework:

  • Go to www.lab-aids.com
  • Go to “Student Login” in upper right hand corner
  • Type in Username: science and Password: inspires

Next, Select: Middle School—Issues and Physical Science (7th Grade)

  • Select Activity Number to view

Using the Online Text for writing responses to Analysis Questions:

  • Open the Activity Number and save to the desktop.
  • Write your responses--you are able to print them out.

Using the Online Text for Reading:

  • Open an Activity Number (this will open a new window—if it doesn’t go to Internet Options and click on “accept pop-ups from this site”)
  • Go to File: “Save as” a pdf file on the desktop (You will want to name the file the activity number.)
  • Then open the saved desktop file (It will open in Adobe Reader—if you don’t have this installed please go to www.adobe.com and download Reader)
  • Go to Menu: “View” scroll down to “Read out Loud”
  • Click on “Activate Read out Loud”

*To slow down speech or change to another voice:

Go to Menu: “Edit” scroll down to “Preferences”

Speech attributes can be tinkered with.
