On behalf of the Duniway staff I would like to welcome you to the 2011-12 school year! We are excited to have you at Duniway and cannot wait to build relationships with you, your child and family. Recognized as a school of excellence, we take pride in our accomplishments and attribute our success to a professional staff and parent community who work closely to support all students. Duniway students participate in rigorous academic programs, extended learning opportunities and enrichment classes, and benefit from the strong, active parent / community partnerships that are in place. In addition to our instructional program staff are equally committed to providing and maintaining a safe, respectful, equitable and inclusive learning environment for your child.

Although the majority of Duniway students exceed grade level standards, our staff remain committed to helping each child reach their personal potential. In order to do so, Duniway staff receives on-going professional development training in differentiated instructional strategies. As a result, they can modify the curriculum to teach and challenge all students, including students who need additional support to reach standard or students who need supplemental material to stay motivated and challenged in their learning. You will find that our teaching staff is trained to differentiate their instruction to meet the wide range of ability levels they encounter in their work with students.

In addition to professional learning the teachers work closely as a team to modify or enhance our instructional and support programs. Throughout the school year they meet weekly in grade level teams to plan the curriculum for program consistency and lesson implementation. Although the teachers adjust their approach to meet the needs of the students in their individual classrooms they strive for balance between the classes. As a result, families can be confident that their child will demonstrate growth regardless of teacher / class placement.
