Creston's Organic Student-Grown Garden
Creston School's Garden serves as an exciting organic outdoor laboratory used to enhance student learning in math, science, literacy, and health. Student’s research cultures that use specific fruits or vegetables, carry out soil tests, add needed amendments to the soil, plant, water, weed, observe, document, harvest, and finally taste the fruits and vegetables grown in the garden.
Currently we have a monthly after school garden club, a weekly summer garden club, and numerous in-school gardening activities throughout the school year. Our goal is to improve student understanding of nutrition by teaching students where their food comes from, the importance of eating fruits and vegetables, and how to grow and prepare healthy food choices through fun hands-on learning activities
