Hallway Student-Painted Murals
In October and November of 2009 our Kindergarten through Eighth Grade students created murals on the hallway fire doors. The theme went from microcosm to macrocosm:
Me, Our School, Our Neighborhood
Our City - Portland
Our State - Oregon
Our Country - the United States of America
Our Planet - Earth
Our Solar System and Universe
Students worked with Wendy Dunder, an Artist in Residence (www.wendydunderart.com), and Creston Arts Teacher Stacy Anne Murphy, to create dozens of panels filling four doorways. Many students, teachers, parents and community members volunteered their time helping supervise students, painting, installing, and clear-coating the murals. It was truly a community effort.
