Visual Arts
Art
The Art program at Cleveland encourages students to identify their own passions for specific media in the Visual Arts. The classes emphasize process over product and students are encouraged to understand their own mode of perception of the world around them. Media will include but not be limited to:
- Drawing
- Painting
- Illustration
- Printmaking
- Ceramics
- Mixed Media
Students begin with an introduction to art techniques and theory, then move into a greater exploration of the components of production, aesthetics, and art history. Students are taught art vocabulary, how to express what they see, what makes a good composition, and color mixing.
Photography
The Photography program at Cleveland provides a solid foundation in the medium of photography. Students use 35mm cameras to learn basic and experimental darkroom practices, the principles of photographic composition, techniques of proper exposure, and an understanding of lighting.
