Cleveland High School

The Spanish Immersion program at Cleveland is only available to students through the class of 2014.

Freshman Immersion students are in a cohort that enrolls in a Spanish language class as these students strive to improve their skills in language, grammar, writing, and other cultural aspects of language acquisition.

Sophomores, juniors and seniors continue to improve their proficiency in higher-level Spanish classes at Cleveland and will participate in community-based experiences as these opportunities become available.

Students in the Spanish Immersion cohort at Hosford Middle School are automatically assigned to Cleveland and are not required to complete the School Choice form. However, these students will be required to take the STAMP test at Hosford.

Depending on total school enrollment projections and District staffing allocations, Cleveland may be able to accept applicants who are not currently enrolled in the Spanish Immersion cohort at Hosford. These applicants will be required to complete the School Choice form and take the STAMP test (scoring a minimum of 3s).

Parents of 8th graders who live outside Cleveland’s attendance area are responsible for scheduling an appointment for the STAMP test at one of these locations: Northside Family Support Center (7650 N. Commercial Ave.; call 503-916-3952 and ask for Kathy Gaitan) or Southside Family Support Center (9015 SE Rural, next to Kelly Elementary School; call 503-916-3946 and ask for Amanda Yampolsky). STAMP testing deadline is Feb. 26, 2010.
