Participation in the IB Program
All students attending Cleveland High School may participate in the International Baccalaureate Program in 11th and 12th grade. Those students interested in pursuing a full IB Diploma will need to make sure they complete prerequisite classes in 9th and 10th grade (See 4-Year Planning for Students). For more information about IB Diploma requirements, see IB Options: Diploma vs. Certificate.
Interested 8th grade students and parents are invited to attend Bridging the Gap, an informational open house, to learn more about the academic courses and challenges available at Cleveland High School. The IB Coordinator and several IB Juniors and Seniors will be on hand in the Cafeteria after the tour to answer questions about IB.
Cleveland students in 8th, 9th and 10th grade may indicate their intent to be part of the IB program by completing the "IB Interest Survey" form and submitting it to the IB Coordinator (click here to download form).
Students who do not live in the Cleveland attendance area and who wish to transfer to Cleveland High School will need to complete the PPS lottery form. Once students are selected by the lottery to attend Cleveland, they may then forecast for pre-IB and/or Business Focus Option classes. However, for 2012-2013, there are zero openings for transfer students at Cleveland High School. Click here for more information from Portland Public Schools.
