Short Q&A with Mr. Naze
Q. What is the title and author of your favorite read aloud you've given this year?
Q. Who is a teacher that had a particularly lasting impact for you and what is one idea or experience that you have from them?
A. Mr. Hayden, my Honors English teacher in high school, taught me to use the fewest possible words in my writing. Make each word count.
Q. What year did you start teaching? What year did you start teaching at Capitol Hill?
A. I've taught since 2002, started at Capitol Hill in 2004.
Q. What is a book that has been influential on your teaching?
A. Reading Essentials by Regie Routeman. It is a wonderfully concise book about learning to become a better reader. Brain-Based Learning by Eric Jensen contains much of what science has revealed about how we learn and the environments that are best suited to learning.
