Hello Capitol Hill Families!
Welcome to another great year at Capitol Hill Elementary! This 2012-2013 school year begins my 6th year as Director of ExAcademy and CLC. ExAcademy is our extended day from 2:15 - 6:00 pm and CLC is our Community Learning Center that offers enrichment classes directly after school, three days a week in the Fall, Winter and Spring. A little bit about myself - this is my 27th year with Portland Public Schools. Twenty-one years I taught 3rd – 5th grade and the past five years, I’ve worked at Capitol Hill. My husband Gary (PPS/Cleveland High School math teachers for 31 years) and I just celebrated 28 years of marriage in Maui! We have raised four children (two girls and two boys) and both daughters are married. The blessings continue with four grandchildren, two 3-year old boys who are 4 months apart and two one-year olds (girl and boy) who are six-weeks apart. Yes, our girls are competitive! In addition to spending a lot of time enjoying family, Gary and I play in a praise band at our church (Debra on keyboard/vocals and Gary on bass/vocals); we also enjoy hiking, biking, running, and water skiing.
