Here's an article and video about our big event in 2009-10---One Night In Frogtown

Where the bugs are juicy and the music is cool…

by Dot Rust on June 4, 2010

Students from Portland Public Schools have joined Amy Roloff, star of TLC’s TV series “Little People, Big World” in One Night In Frogtown , an all-ages musical (with frogs!), a celebration of diversity told through music based on Emmy-winning author/composer Philip Pelletier’s acclaimed musical storybook. The Primary Colors Kids Chorus and PPS Dance Troupe will join a star-studded Oregon cast: soul diva Linda Hornbuckle, Grammy nominee Patrick Lamb, Oregon Music Hall of Famer Andy Stokes, beat-boxer extraordinaire Fogatron, chanteuse Shannon Day, and acclaimed vocalist Heather Christie for a special community show on Saturday June 5th at 2:00 PM and 5:00PM at The Aladdin Theater. The event is a fund-raising benefit for the Shriners Children’s Hospital, and will feature the Portland Premier of Frogtown’s upcoming CD release Bedtime For Tadpoles.

The collaboration began in 2009 when author/composer Philip Pelletier presented Frogtown at Lloyd Center’s Barnes & Noble “Educator Week”, and was approached by Becky Underhill, music teacher at Boise-Eliot Elementary School in NE Portland. “I loved Frogtown immediately! The music and story are so wonderful and have such an important message”, says Underhill. She invited Pelletier to visit her class at Boise-Eliot, where he was impressed with the group’s spirit and enthusiasm. “I knew I wanted to involve them in one of our community events, and this benefit for the Children’s Hospital was the perfect opportunity”, says Pelletier. “We love to involve kids from local communities in our shows, and now with Amy Roloff’s background as a teacher, all the pieces really fall into place”.
