Boise-Eliot Activities
Boise-Eliot staff and students are involved in many wonderful and exciting activities throughout the year.
Nike School Innovation Fund, Portland Leadership Collaborative
BEST (Boise-Eliot Showcase of Talent) Fair ~ The B.E.S.T Fair is the annual culminating event celebrating the learning and talents of our students. B.E.S.T. Fair is June 3rd, 6-8 pm.
Run For the Arts ~ Funds from Run For The Arts have done great things for our school. We now have three wonderful permanent art displays in the front, kindergarten and 4th grade halls. Five years ago, every classroom spent several hands on sessions with artist Elisa Leverton creating murals around classroom doors. Our April 2008 Run raised nearly $4000. This money will be used this year to give our students more chances to explore art and have fun. Be watching for more information on this all-school event. Many hands are welcome to make this project successful. Come cheer your child on and punch some lap cards, hand out popsicles, or help calculate laps. We also need volunteers to help collect the funds that will be turned in.
PRIMARY COLORS KIDS CHORUS- A twenty four year tradition of enthusiastic singing. See Ms. Underhill's pages for details.
SMART ~ Start Making a Reader Today is sponsored by the Oregon Children’s Foundation. Volunteers come into our building and read to selected students in kindergarten through grade 2. Approximately two books are given to every student in the program each month. The goal of S.M.A.R.T. is to build within each child an interest in reading and a knowledge base within which s/he can develop reading skills. The volunteers do not specifically teach reading. If you are interested in becoming a S.M.A.R.T. volunteer, please contact the S.M.A.R.T. coordinator through the school office.
Storybook Parade ~ This will be our 11th year holding a Storybook Parade to provide a sense of fun with the school and community. The parade begins on the Borthwick side of Boise Eliot and winds thru the neighborhood. We love to have parents line the parade route and cheer for our children. The Parade ends in the playground where everyone enjoys a popsicle.
