A standard essay has the following parts:
Paragraph 1: Introduction
This paragraph should introduce the main idea or thesis of the paper, and three main points.
Paragraph 2:
This paragraph should state the topic sentence of the first point. It should include supporting details including facts, examples, and opinions. It has a concluding sentence and a transition to the next idea.
Paragraph 3:
This paragraph states the second point, and has the same information as paragraph 2
Paragraph 4:
Point three, same details as paragraph 2 and 3
Paragraph 5:
Conclusion: The purpose of this paragraph is to restate the thesis, and the three main points in the body. Finally, this paragraph should try to point out a larger idea from which we may learn. It might also include a relevant quote that helps emphasize the thesis.
