First Grade Newsletter

Hello First Grade Families,
**There is a late opening this Wednesday. School begins at 10:30 a. m.
**No school Monday.
Math News - We will be beginning unit 4 this week. It is an integrated unit on measurement using different kinds of penguins as the source for measuring. It looks like a ton of fun! Be sure to ask your student about it.
Writer's Workshop - We have just started a new unit called "How To" papers. Students will write how to papers that include illustrations and step by step instructions. They will also learn how to become a peer editor and help their classmates revise and edit.
Reading - We are starting unit 4. In a couple of weeks my reading group will spend a week with Reader's Theatre. Small student groups will practice, make simple props and perform 4 different plays.
AUCTION NEWS - The tiles are glazed and beautiful. Lee (my husband) and I are building the Mason bee house. It will look great on the pole with the tiles. I found a super interesting piece of wood for the roof. Come in Tuesday to see it!
