Gwen Campbell
I spent my childhood in Indiana and New Jersey where I was exposed to vastly different educational experiences. The disparity between the two ( New Jersey- amazing!! Indiana – not so much) was one of the primary reasons I wanted to enter the education field. I believe that every child has a right to expect a high quality, vigorous education regardless of race or socio-economic class.
I spent my undergrad years in Washington DC at American University where I majored in political science and obtained a certificate to teach English as a Second Language. After college, I spent a year in Asia travelling around and gaining a greater appreciation for different cultures and their unique experiences. Upon arriving back in the States, I moved to San Francisco where I made a tangent in career plans and became a pastry chef for the next five years. The birth of my son Owen, and a move up to Portland for my husband’s job, ultimately precipitated my desire to return to education.
I now have two children, Owen (8) and Evie (6). They both attend Alameda Elementary and are the biggest joys of my life. I’m also married to a very understanding husband who works in the field of finance as a hedge fund analyst. As a family, we thrive on being outdoors and ski all winter long and play lots of golf, swimming, and biking in the summer.
I’m looking forward to having a great year at Beaumont. Please contact me if you have any questions. gcampbel@pps.net
