Snow Day Make up

The Portland School Board approved calendars for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years on March 31 and added two days to the current school year to make up for snow days. School will end this year on Friday, June 13.

PPS closed all schools three full days this school year due to inclement weather: Dec. 11, Feb. 7 and Feb. 10. To make up time, June 12 and 13, originally scheduled as teacher planning days, will now be full school days. School will let out for summer break Friday, June 13 and planning days will move to Monday and Tuesday, June 16 and 17.

Beaumont Foundation

The Beaumont Middle School Foundation raises money for teacher staffing above the level allocated by Portland Public Schools.  It helps to ensure students receive an enriched and supported education.  At Beaumont, programs such as music, PE, World Languages and mentoring are available due to the additional funds donated to the Foundation.

To learn more about the work of PPS Local School Foundations and the impact of PPSF Equity Fund investments, check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgL1eBBDYS8&feature=youtu.be&safe=active

The Beaumont Foundation asks every family to contribute to the Foundation.  A donation of $10/month from every family will help reach this year's fundraising goal of $60,000.  Anticipated decline in enrollment is expected for 2014-15, due to the promotion of a large 8th grade class this year.  PPS funding is tied to enrollment numbers so fundraising by the Foundation is critical this year to maintain current programming and to consider expanding with a Health Teacher, more opportunity to learn a World Language and to continue the Mentor Program and music offerings.

Please go to www.allhandsraised.org today and make your donation.  Monthly recurring donations of $10 or more are greatly appreciated.  Be sure to designate Beaumont Middle School as your donation recipient.  Alternatively, you can send a check made out to "Beaumont Foundation" to the school office.

A financial contribution to our children's education is the greatest gift and greatly appreciated.
