A Fantastic Family Event!
Last Thursday Arleta Boosters and Arleta School held the first annual end of the year Family barbecue. It was a fantastic event; music in the auditorium with Ms. VanEngel, hallways filled with student work, laughter, and playground fun for families and friends.
I wanted to personally thank many parents for their initiative and incredible planning, working throughout the event!
Thank you Kate Thomas and Bonnie Parker for the coordination and amazing job pulling the event together. Thank you as well for your leadership this year with the Boosters.

Please see the attached letter, sent home with our students on Friday, May 20th. With the recent passing of the Local Option Levy, I wanted to update our families and community on planned staffing and program for 2011/2012. Dear parents,
I’d like to invite you to a “Coffee and Chat” with me on Friday, May 6th at 8:10 am in Room 7. As always, please check in with the main office before heading deeper into the building.
As you may know from news media, 2011/2012 school year will be a difficult one for schools throughout Portland. I’d like to have the opportunity to share with you how staffing and budget cuts will effect our program here at Arleta as well as get feedback from you about the current school year.
Please join me for coffee and pastries at 8:10 on Friday the 6th.

Milk Carton Recycling Begins!
Milk Carton Recycling Program Needs Your Help! Help us help the planet! The Arleta Community is going to start recycling milk cartons at lunch. The Green Team needs your help. We are looking for parents, grandparents, or guardians of students to come help out during the school lunch periods and assist students in recycling properly. We need volunteers available for one or two hour shifts once a week. Please contact Gina at geballard@yahoo.com to set up your time to volunteer!
