- Band/Choir: Students in 4th and 5th grades may choose to play an instrument in the school band. They can select from brass, woodwinds and strings. They each meet after school once a week for an hour and have performances throughout the year. Students may also participate in the Choir, which meets on Wednesdays for grades 4 & 5 from 2:20 - 3:00 and Fridays for grade 3 from 2:20 -3:00, both choirs meet in the Auditorium.
- Chess Club: All students in K-5 are invited to come and play chess! Beginners to advanced players are welcome. Chess club meets from 2:20-3:20pm Mondays (November 16 - March) in Room A-3 & 4 in the Annex. There is a chess coach and a parent volunteer at each meeting.
- Crossing Guards: 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to be crossing guards in the mornings and afternoons. Forms are available in the office.
- Environmental Club: This club, also known as "Greenspace Club" meets every other Friday in Room 32. It is led by teacher, David Brady and parent volunteers. The club's main purpose is to maintain and improve the forested area between the main building and the Annex. A dedicated group of students fight against invasive species while they continuously replant with native plants. The club hosts guest speakers on environmental issues that affect the school and the planet. Field trips are offered to natural areas in our region. The club is always open to new energy and ideas. Students in all grades are welcome, but K and 1st graders need a parent chaperone.
- Homework Club
- Science Adventures: Interactive Science Club programs meet Tuesdays, beginning November 3, 2009. Children share in science discovery while being introduced to science concepts through hands-on experiments, activities and take-home science projects. New activities and cutting-edge topics are based on student relevant interests and are designed to motivate as well as teach.
- Family Math Nights: Leave the calculators at home and bring your creative family mind for a night of mathematical movin' and shakin' in the auditorium! Family Math Nights are organized by grade level K-1, 2-3, and 4-5. Parents gain skills for working with young mathematicians as well as insight into the new methods of teaching math. Students have an opportunity to share their mathematical thinking and to teach their favorite math games to family members.
- Science Fair
- Student Council: Every quarter, two students from each class in 3rd-5th grades have an opportunity to represent their peers on the Student Council. So that every student has an opportunity to become a student council member, each student may only participate for one quarter. Responsibilities include weekly Tuesday meetings, the food drive "Project Second Wind" and running the student store. Students are led by Sheri Jorgenson, Ainsworth PE teacher. (back to top)
- Art Fair: Each spring, relatives and friends are invited to view children's works of art. Led by Ainsworth art teacher, Lynn Malzahn, this is an evening featuring all of the special art work the children create during their 1/2 year of art instruction.
- Buckaroo
- Field Day: During the last weeks of school, PE teacher Sheri Jorgenson, and a hard-working group of parent volulnteers lead the children through an obstacle course, frog toss, and races for a fun- filled day of exercise and activity.
- 5th Grade Ceremony: An annual graduation tradition to celebrate the success of the 5th graders and to commemorate their years at Ainsworth.
- 5th Grade Kickball Game: An annual graduation tradition, the 5th graders take on the whole Ainsworth teaching staff in a game of kickball. The entire school turns out to watch and cheer on their chosen team.
- Holiday Home Tour
- New Family Welcome: Incoming Kindergarten families are invited to meet both their new teachers and their new classmates in a small, informal setting, before the first day of school. Families bring a picnic and gather around for story-telling and information-sharing, which eases the transition to Elementary school.
- Red Ball Auction
- Run For The Arts: Sponsored by Young Audiences, which has brought arts to schools since 1958, this is a valuable program that benefits all of the children at Ainsworth in the area of the arts (dance, drama, music, and visual arts). Last year, Young Audiences brought artists to over 100,000 students at participating schools. Each year, students, teachers and school staff gather sponsors and then run/walk laps around the back field. Most earn a cool tee-shirt with the opportunity for other prizes.

- Special Persons’ Day: Each year a day is designated for children to invite a special family member or friend to enjoy the classroom experience.
