About:
Marysville has a rich, 85-year history serving children and families in Southeast Portland. A warm and caring environment, individual and cultural diversity, respectful relationships and powerful community partnerships form the foundation for student success. Academic achievement meets high standards through rigorous instruction by a team of dedicated, highly skilled teachers and support staff. Students become great readers, writers and speakers as a result of research-based curriculum, uninterrupted 90-minute literacy blocks, frequent assessment and progress monitoring. Experiential, hands-on science, math, and social studies instruction helps students become critical thinkers and effective problem solvers. Technology and arts integration, assemblies, field trips, community-supported projects and nature-based activities ensure a balanced education for ALL students, including those receiving Special Education, Talented and Gifted and English as a Second Language services. All students receive instruction in music, physical education, library and computer skills. To prepare students to be contributing citizens and practice leadership skills, we have established Job Squad community service positions and the G.R.E.A.T. program.
