About:
Forest Park Elementary School provides a strong educational program focused on helping all students meet and exceed district and state standards while cultivating their intellectual, social and creative potential. Weekly PE, music, technology and library classes are for K-5th students are a part of the programs foundation. Technology is integrated through the curriculum to help students meet learning goals and prepare for their educational career. Grade level teachers work as a team, coordinating the yearlong curriculum, projects and fieldtrip. Teachers, staff, parents and community volunteers work together to provide a secure environment of cooperation, mutual respect, support and trust. The School Improvement Plan guides the school in setting goals and assessing results; it addresses the needs of all students, including those served by the Special Education and Talented and Gifted programs.
Kindergarten: Fee-based full-day program offered in each of the three kindergarten classrooms.
Kindergarten Round-up: January 27th, 2010 at 3:30pm.
Childcare: Kidspace before and after school care available.
Information Sessions: Newcomer tour and information session offered the third Wednesday of each month beginning in February at 3 pm. Please contact the main office if you wish to attend.
Before and after school programs
- PTA Spanish and Mandarin Chinese After School Language Programs, Mad Science, Drama, Chess Club, Running Club, and Art are offered throughout the school year with limited availability. After school programs are fee-based and coordinated by the PTA and outside organizations. Please note these activities are pending student participation, staffing and interest. Most, if not all, are provided by outside organizations through Civic Use of Forest Park Elementary.

Curriculum components
- The school improvement plan addresses the needs of all students, including Talented and Gifted (TAG) and Special Education students as individuals, meeting individual rate and level.
- Enrichment classes support our academic goals of excellence and extend experiences in art, science, math, technology and multicultural education.
- Forest Park Elementary focuses on the district and state academic performance standards for student achievement.
- Site Council assesses and measures our achievement and develops our school improvement plan along side the staff.
- The school improvement plan determines our goals, how progress will be measured and corrections/changes/additions to the program needed to strengthen our children\'s elementary experience and academic growth.
- Our expectation is for all students to meet or exceed the standards.
Staff
- Forest Park\'s staff includes 20 classroom teachers (grades K-5th), 4 special program teachers, 3 full-time educational assistants (subject to change annually).
- Support teachers and staff include a Learning Center teacher, a music, PE, library assistant, and technology teacher, two secretaries, day and night custodians, cafeteria lead and a principal.
- As a team the staff works together, focused on our students as our school\'s and community\'s number-one priority.
Parent and family support
- Parents serve on the Site Council, PTA, Local and Area School Advisory Committees.
- Outstanding parent support and involvement at school and home.
Special programs and features
- Reading Buddies, Artist in Residence, OMSI and Audubon programs, Computer Enrichment and Integration, full-and half-time PE, music, technology and library programs for all K-5 students.
