Before and after school programs
- Football, cross country, soccer, volleyball, dance, wrestling, basketball, swimming, baseball, softball, track, golf, tennis, club sports (lacrosse, water polo, rugby, skiing, snowboarding), student government, Model United Nations, forensics, drama, Constitution Team, Cardinal Times newspaper, yearbook, Polyglot literary magazine and approximately 50 special interest, culture and service clubs designed by students.

Student learning environment
- Programs provide the highest quality-academic andextracurricular opportunities with a strong collegepreparatory program. Basic high school curriculum isenhanced with advanced course work in English, socialsciences, foreign languages, mathematics and physical andlife sciences.

Curriculum components
- A respect for one's own and other people's cultures and
language and an understanding of the visual and performing arts. - Knowledge of scientific processes and principles, history,political and economic systems, institutions and demands ofresponsible citizenship.
- Lincoln provides each student with opportunities to think critically, logically and imaginatively; to identify,analyze and solve problems using a variety of techniques.
- A variety of instructional strategies and techniques target
students' diverse learning styles, as they master basic
skills and higher-level applications in reading, writing,
speaking, listening, observing, analyzing, computing. - Skills and knowledge necessary to protect and enhance physical and mental health, make appropriate decisions and usetime-management skills.
Staff
- 60 classroom teachers, 2.5 special instruction teachers, 4 educational assistants, 5 student counselors, alternative education teacher, library/media specialist.
Parent and family support
- Families offer support through PTA, Local School Advisory Committee (LSAC), Site Council, Cardinal Families, BoosterClub, LHS Foundation.
- Family/community members volunteer in the counseling office toassist with the college application process; help coordinateschool activities; assist with testing, tutoring, campusmonitoring; volunteer in classrooms and library; accompanystudents on field trips.
- Family/community involvement helps students succeed and is strongly encouraged.
Special programs and features
- International Studies Center is a special focus program for the study of foreign languages, international studies.Lincoln's downtown location is perfect for learning aboutand experiencing many international aspects of our community.
- Lincoln is an approved International Baccalaureate (IB) school able to prepare students for the IB Diploma.Originally designed in 1967 as a course of study forinternational schools, the excellence of the IB has beenproven and accepted by more than 50 countries.
- Special education services provided for a wide range of students with special needs.
- Special support and sheltered instruction for students with limited English proficiency.
- Spanish Immersion program is the first immersion experience offered in any Portland Public Schools high school. A uniqueprogram that focuses on students developing fluency andusing the Spanish language in interdisciplinary studies tocomplete a K–12 immersion experience.
