• A school wide understanding of developmental practices that reflect a knowledge and appreciation of a child's unique developmental needs.

  • Participation in thematic units of instruction including the use of Storyline at all grade levels.

  • Building a caring and responsible community through service learning.

  • The incorporation of thematic gardens into a schoolyard habitat, which serves as a "living classroom".

  • Use of local parks and green spaces for core academic instruction.

  • Authentic instructions in AMerican Sign Language in the K - 5 classrooms. A choice of Spanish or American Sign Language in the middle school grades.

  • Art that is infused into all areas of the curriculum as a means of self expression, communication and academic skill building; a curriculum that is rich in visual arts, song, world music and dance.

  • Buddy relationships between the middle and elementary classrooms.

  • A learning environment in which all members foster and take responsibility for a safe and respectful climate that is conducive to academic and personal excellence.

  • Teaching of sustainable practices; the development of knowledge regarding how our daily practices impact our city and the rest of the world.
