Abernethy Music
Program
The
Abernethy community is enthusiastic in its support of the school's
music program. The past few years have provided added support for
music through fundraising and grant writing efforts.
Our
music teacher, Mrs. Nancy Nordwall, is well-loved by her students
and well-respected by her peers. Her goal as a music teacher is
to develop to the fullest extent possible the innate musicality
present in all children and to have each student develop a love
and appreciation for all types of music.
Music
instruction is provided to all grades. The Abernethy music program
gives students an opportunity to experience music through listening,
playing instruments, moving and dancing, singing, reading and writing
musical notation.
Mrs.
Nordwall teaches the "Orf" music method using xylophones
to learn musical notes. Third, fourth and fifth grades are also
receiving recorder instruction and can participate in the Abernethy
Choir. All students will be performing in a Music Program during
the school year.
