Board outlines priorities for coming year

The Portland School Board, on Jan. 22, presented a letter to the Portland community that identified the board’s three key priorities for the 2013 legislative session and upcoming negotiations with the Portland Association of Teachers.

The priorities included:

  • Building a budget that increases opportunities for students.
  • Securing legislation that improves and stabilizes funding for the classroom.
  • Making progressive changes to an outdated teacher contract to control costs and improve student learning.
