Wilson cheerleaders win state championship

Wilson High School cheerleaders celebrate their top honors in the state 5A Small Division.

For the fourth consecutive year, Wilson High School's cheerleading team has taken first place at state cheerleading championships.

Wilson's squad won the 5A Small Division in Oregon School Activities Association competition at the Memorial Coliseum Feb. 11.

In addition, judges awarded team members the Lesley Maley Creative Choreograpy Award.

Featured in PPS Pulse Wilson has won a state cheerleading championship every year since 2009.

Members for 2011-12 are Alissa Le; Anna Marlin; Aryn Dawson; Cecillia Leyva; Charlotte Baker; Chloe Hage; Faith Leiva; Leah Leiva; Maya Berns; Seneca Kolander; Amy Graham; Sydney Rubin; and Chloe Villagomez. Coaches include Chris Fazzolari, Gabe Testa, Shannon Maloney, Katie Fazzolari and Laura Strahan.

Other PPS schools competing in the state event included Cleveland, Grant, Lincoln and Madison high schools.
