Former PPS spokesman joins Oregon Legislature

Lew Frederick will represent North and Northeast Portland as the newest member of the Oregon House of Representatives.
Lew Frederick, longtime spokesman for Portland Public Schools, was sworn in as representative for House District 43, in North and Northeast Portland on Friday, Oct. 30. Congratulations to Rep. Frederick, and best wishes in his next phase of public service.
A resident of Northeast Portland since 1974, Lew has spent his career in public service, including two years of teaching at Metropolitan Learning Center
, 17 years as a radio and television reporter with 62KGW/Channel 8 KGW-TV, 13 years as director of public information at PPS, assistant to the president of Portland Community College and, most recently, two years on the State Board of Education.
Lew will serve on the House Interim Human Services Committee and Interim Sustainability & Economic Development Committee. He will begin those assignments when the interim committees meet Nov. 17 to Nov. 19.
