C.J. ascends from her role as director of the Office of School Modernization, where she developed the organization and partnerships PPS needs to implement a large capital program for transforming our aging facilities into smart, sustainable schools. As executive director of operations, she will integrate our building modernization work with the rest of our operations work and better align our operations and technical support to further student achievement.
C.J. will oversee the Office of School Modernization, Nutrition Services, Security Services, Facilities and Asset Management, Transportation, and Information Technology. She will work with Human Resources to recruit a new director for the Office of School Modernization.
In addition, I will be hiring an executive director for finance and administration, who will sit on the executive committee and oversee many of the business functions previously under the CFO. We are launching a search to fill that position. Our data and policy work, led by Dona Lehr, will be overseen by Sara Allan, executive director for system planning and performance.
C.J. came to Portland Public Schools in 2008 from the City of Wilsonville, where she was redevelopment director since 1995. At Wilsonville, she was responsible for all facets of the city’s urban renewal activities including budget development and management, developer negotiations, collaborative design processes, capital project design and construction, and real property acquisitions. These skills and additional project management and planning work in Eureka and Santa Barbara, Calif., prepare her well to lead our operations work.
Please join me in congratulating C.J. on her new position.
