Free summer meals
Free lunches — and breakfast at some locations — are available on weekdays this summer for children and teenagers ages 1 to 18 at PPS schools and Portland Parks & Recreation playground sites in selected neighborhoods.
Sites are open to any child who wants to participate, and the meals are served on a first-come, first-served basis. No application or paperwork is necessary.
Adult meals cost $4.
Some sites will also have fun activities such as games, swimming, and arts and crafts along with meals.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture provides federal funding for the Summer Food Service Program in school enrollment areas where more than 50 percent of students are eligible for free and reduced- price meals during the school year. The City of Portland and Multnomah County also contribute funding to provide staff and activities at summer meal sites.
