Student Services provides:

  • Counseling Support:  professional development training and support to PPS school counselors (K-12). Contact: Student Services, 503-916-5460
  • District Emergency Counseling Support Team: available to assist schools in responding to a traumatic event, such as the death of a student, staff member or parent when the tragedy is so great that resource people in the school are unable to respond adequately.

  • Child Abuse Reporting Procedures and Protocol:

  • Student Discipline Guidance: technical assistance and training for staff responsible for implementing the District’s student discipline practices and procedures.

  • Parent Education for parents of PreK-12 students: Bullying prevention, substance abuse prevention, social skills/problem solving, adolescent brain development, cybersafety.

  • Alcohol/Drug Assessments for students grades 6 - 12; Insight Class for students grades 6 – 12 with a drug and/or alcohol Level A Violation or who attend voluntarily.

  • School Climate/Classroom Management:  staff development, school teams, climate surveys and analysis for all schools. Contact: Karina Kidd, 503-916-2000 x71014                                        
  • DESCC (Delayed Expulsion School Counseling Center): for students grades 6 – 12 who are on a Level 4 violence violation or Level B drug/alcohol violation or non-compliant Level A and have the option of a delayed expulsion alternative.

  • MSP (Major Suspension Program): Assistance for students grades 4 – 12 who are suspended 2-10 days with behaviors related to physical safety and mental well-being.

  • Mental Health Support: consultation/evaluation/planning for K-12 students with behavioral issues impacting school success and/or school safety.
