Community Transition Program Courses

Below is a list of course options that are offered in our program to meet student's individualized education needs.

Nutrition and Fitness

This course explores healthy living and eating habits and helps students develop habits they will use throughout their lives.

Self Advocacy and Communication

This course teaches self-advocacy and communication skills important for being successful in the adult world. Instruction will meet students at their level of individual skill.

Planning My Future

This course is designed to assist students in developing knowledge about themselves and their preferences, interests, needs and supports.

Work Life

This course teaches students about work and vocational skills in a variety of settings, including: community work experience, individual volunteering, group work in class, individual instruction, visits to community businesses and job fairs, job shadows and guest presentations. This course is designed to instruct beginning workers and give them the skills needed to become more confident and independent as they prepare to enter the work world.

Healthy Relationships

This course explores the basics of a healthy relationship, including meeting people, building trust and confidentiality. It is designed to support young adults in understanding their responsibilities as adults in the areas of sexuality, setting personal boundaries and interpersonal relationships.

Daily Living

This course is designed to teach students the skills they need as they become more independent, responsible and engaged in their daily lives. Instruction will meet students at their level of individual skill.

Renter's Education

This course designed to help students learn about becoming a successful renter and tenant. It is designed to teach students important skills if they are going to rent or share an apartment/house and provides the opportunity to earn a Rent Well certificate which can benefit them in the renter’s marketplace.

Community Access

This course supports students to build the skills needed to be active participants in their communities. It is designed to support students at an emerging level of skill and knowledge of community resources and the Tri-Met system.
