School Modernization

In the  May 2011 election, voters narrowly turned down a $548 million bond measure to increase safety, repair deteriorated buildings and update learning environments at PPS schools. School building improvements remain desperately needed. Work now begins to determine how Portland Public Schools can address these challenges in a way that matches the urgent need for upgrades with the reality of difficult economic times, and to start on the long-range plan to rebuild schools in the next 30 years.
