WebEx at PPS

The PPS IT Department in cooperation with
Cisco Systems and Mountain States Networking
is proud to offer WebEx Teleconferencing
for PPS Departments and Schools.

What is WebEx web conferencing?

Web conferencing lets you connect with anyone, anywhere, in real time. WebEx combines desktop sharing through a web browser with phone conferencing and video, so everyone sees the same thing while you talk.

Why meet online?

When you meet online, you remove many of the constraints that can make meetings a challenge — like getting everyone in the same place at the same time. With WebEx, you can:
  • Save time and money in travel.
  • Easily collaborate with distant colleagues and clients.
  • Eliminate the hassle of emailing files and following up by phone.
  • Make your meetings more productive and successful.

It's more than just meetings

Web conferencing lets you do almost anything you can do face-to-face. How you use WebEx is limited only by your imagination. For example:
  • Hold a staff conference/meeting; with one up to 200 at a time.
  • Conduct a Parent -Teacher conference; with one or the entire class.
  • Promote an idea or project.
  • Conduct online training.
  • Collaborate with colleagues.
  • Share files and presentations (PowerPoint, etc), and
  • Record your sessions for viewing later by those that missed your conference.

How do I get a WebEx account?

We have a limited number of individual accounts that are issued to Departments, Executive Staff offices and School clusters  To request an account and/or receive information about getting your own account contact Tom Voight at (503) 916-3039 or e-mail to tvoight2@pps.net.

How do I set-up a WebEx conference?

You can set-up your own WebEx sessions after you have a WebEx account and password assigned.  To access a Quick Reference Guide on how set-up and start your scheduled WebEx sessions, click here or in the Quick Links box above.

How do I join a WebEx conference?

When you are invited to a WebEx session, you will receive an e-mail with instructions and information about the WebEx session.  The e-mail will contain a link to the WebEx session and a toll free phone number (877) that you can call to join the conversation.  Or, if you want to use your computer's microphone and speakers, there is a link to "Connect via My Computer:.  It's quick and easy.  When joining a session, WebEx will download an Active-X control so you can see the session.  If you get a warning message asking if you want to download the control, choose "Yes".
