Telephone and Voice Mail

In June of 2010 Portland Public Schools completed a multi year project to upgrade all of the District phones to new VoIP phone system. New system utilizes computer network cabling instead of phone wiring. The VoIP phones are connected to the network in series with your Computer using standard ethernet cables.

Deployment of the VoIP phone system allows PPS to provide local phone service and voice mail in every classroom, providing teachers better access to parents. Moving to VoIP also lays the groundwork for a district-wide emergency broadcast system and puts us closer to our goal of transforming classrooms into 21st century schools.

VoIP phones are an economic and feature-rich option for our schools and offices. VoIP phone service offers flexible options like Corporate Directories, Automated Attendant, and voicemail for every phone. VoIP phone service also provides the capability for a district wide PA system and allows Remote Programming of phones for much faster response times for repairs.
