Franklin High School
Franklin HS is a neighborhood school that attracts students from the entire metropolitan area. Courses of study range from art to woods/finish carpentry. Honors and advanced-placement courses in English, mathematics, science and social studies offer students the opportunity to earn college credit.
Programs in law and public service, business technology, automotive-technician training, foods and child development allow students to tailor their schedules to personal interests and future academic or career goals.
Franklin is proud to offer opportunities in five of the six new Career Pathways created by the district. Multiple electives are available in the following areas: Human Resources, Arts and Communications, Business Management, Health Services and Industrial and Engineering Systems. Students may also take electives in business technology, ceramics, choral and instrumental music and participate in athletics, clubs and student government. Freshmen take Algebra, Academy Physics/Chemistry and English in Academies.
The World Language Institute offers opportunities to take native-language literacy classes in Chinese, Russian and Spanish.
Russian Language and Culture Program has 2 Russian classes at Franklin HS - Russian for Russian speaking students and Russian as a foreign language. In these classes students learn Russian language, as well as culture and history.
We work collaboratively with PSU Russian department on developing curriculum and providing high school students opportunities to learn Russian at the college level. Currently we are looking for students to sign up for classes for next year and join Franklin High School.
We are in the early planning stages for the school exchange program between schools in sister cities. Both sides are very excited about this opportunity. We want to provide our students real life experiences by being immersed in the language and culture.
