Portland Public Schools offers a wide range of school choices to meet the diverse learning needs of students, and to ensure each student masters the basics and achieve rigorous standards.

Portland Public Schools support staff are key support to fulfilling our District's mission and to achieving our goals. Classified employees include: secretaries, para-educators, general education and bi-lingual assistants, clerks and library assistants, campus monitors, community agents, occupational and physical therapists, and nutrition services staff.

Next Steps:
Your application will be reviewed according to current district needs. Candidates who meet the employment criteria may be scheduled for an interview. If the applicant is selected for hire, he or she will be asked to provide official sealed transcripts from all colleges and universities attended for the following positions:

  • Para Educator
  • Para Educator Substitute
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • ESL/Bilingual Assistant
  • Educational Assistant
  • Tutor
  • Library/Media Center Assistant
  • Instructional Technology Assistant
  • High School Site Technology Specialist
  • Community Agent position

You will not have to send the materials to Human Resources unless you offered a position or asked to provide the documents sooner.


Veterans Preference
