English Language Learner Department

The Mission of the ELL Department is to support Portland Public Schools and its Strategic Plan in assuring equal education access for English Language Learners and their families, in collaboration with schools, staff, and community.

The purpose of this page is to provide key information about the ESL program for students, parents, teachers, administrators and other staff. This information includes:

Staff information (assignments and contact information)

Scheduling tools for K-8 and high school.

ELL Plan

Information on interventions such as tutoring, summer school, credit recovery, mentoring

Parents involvement (list of parent liaisons, meetings, trainings).

Data on achievement (AYP), language progress (AMAOs) and other indicators (drop out data, graduation rates) will be provided.
