Superintendent Carole Smith's recommendation
December 16, 2011: Superintendent Smith released her recommendations on boundary and grade configuration changes for six NE Portland schools, and the middle school transfer guarantee for Sabin and Skyline schools. She is recommending Scenario One from the recent staff proposal:
- Boundary change for western portion of Alameda to Irvington and Sabin
- Conversion of Rigler to K-5, with middle grades moving to Beaumont
- Sabin remains a PK-8 school

Superintendent Smith recommends that the transfer guarantees from Sabin to Beaumont and from Skyline to West Sylvan end this year. Click here to read more about the middle school guarantee plan.
A public hearing for both of these recommendations will be held Monday, January 9 at 7 pm in the Board Auditorium, at 501 N. Dixon. The School Board will vote on these proposals Monday, January 23.
