Plan now for September!
Will your child start kindergarten, middle school or high school in September? If the answer is yes, you and your student are making an important school transition. How should you choose the right school?
For most families in Portland Public Schools, neighborhood schools are the best match. Families looking for another setting may apply for a school transfer by the deadline: February 29 for high school and March 9 for elementary and middle schools.
Follow these three steps for success:
- Visit your neighborhood school — the school to which your student is assigned by address.
- Discuss other public school choices as a family.
- Enroll in your neighborhood school or apply for a school transfer.
