Superintendent’s Advisory Committee for Enrollment & Transfer (SACET)

The advisory committee explores both the policies and practice around school choice, enrollment and transfer, with topics such as priority and preferences in the school choice lottery, guarantees in student assignment and other important issues.

The committee is a critical sounding-board for Superintendent Smith as she considers changes to the school choice system to improve equity, access and educational achievement for students. While the committee will not be asked to decide the issues, its members will shape the superintendent’s actions and recommendations to the School Board.

SEATS OPEN FOR TRANSFER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Community members are invited to apply to join the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee on Enrollment and Transfer (SACET). There are five open seats on this 14-person committee which explore enrollment and transfer-related policy questions and provide advice back to Superintendent Smith. This year the SACET will begin exploring focus option school issues. The group meets on the 2nd Tuesday evening of each month. Their next meeting date is January 8, 2013.

In order to have broad geographic representation, preference will be given for applicants from the following cluster areas: Roosevelt, Wilson, Madison and outer-Southeast portion area of the Franklin. Applications will be accepted until all committee seats are filled.

ESPACIOS DISPONIBLES PARA EL COMITE CONSULTIVO DE TRANSFERENCIAS
Miembros de la comunidad están invitados a solicitar para ser parte del Comité Consultivo de la Superintendente sobre la Inscripción y Traslado (SACET). Hay cinco espacios disponibles para el comité que esta compuesto por 14 miembros quienes exploran preguntas sobre la póliza de la inscripción y el traslado y aconsejan a la Superintendente Smith. Este año SACET se enfocara en el tema de las escuelas con programas especiales. El grupo se reúne el segundo martes de cada mes por las tardes. La próxima reunión será el 20 de noviembre del 2012.

Para poder tener una amplia representación geográfica, se le dará preferencia a los solicitantes que residen en las siguientes zonas: Roosevelt, Wilson, Madison y en las orillas del sureste del área de Franklin. Las solicitudes serán aceptadas hasta que los espacios se llenen.
