El Programa de CIA: Conectando, Instruyendo, y Aprendiendo

Conectando, Instruyendo y Aprendiendo, or El Programa de CIA, is a home-based early childhood education and family engagement program that works to eliminate barriers to school success for Spanish-speaking families through parent education and empowerment.  El Programa de CIA is part of PPS Funded Programs and funded though Title I/No Child Left Behind.

The Mission of Connect , Instruct, and Learn (Conectando, Instruyendo, y Aprendiendo or CIA) is to engage Spanish-speaking parents as their child’s first teacher, create community around education,  provide child development information in a way that respects the families’ values, culture, and customs and to guide parents through the transition into elementary school.

Connect, Instruct, and Learn is a unique family involvement and early childhood education program working with Spanish-speaking families.  CIA is based on Parents as Teachers’ nationally acclaimed and research based parent education curriculum, Born to Learn. It is enriched with children's books, materials, and activities.  The program is delivered via bi-monthly home visits from a trained Home Visitor, who is a member of the community she serves.

Home Visitors share information on a variety of child development, education, and parenting topics, working one on one with each parent and child to provide individualized support.  Parents are also invited to monthly group meetings to listen to speakers on educational themes and connect with other Spanish speaking families in their area.
