Director Trudy Sargent was elected to the Portland School Board in May 2005, and re-elected to a second term in 2009. 

Earning her BA from Georgetown University and her Juris Doctorate from Hastings College of Law, Director Sargent has a background as a law clerk for the US Court of Appeals, and as a business and tax attorney in private practice. She has been a local business owner for more than 20 years.

Director Sargent has an extensive background of service to PPS schools. She acted as Mt. Tabor Middle School’s PTA president and co-president of Glencoe Elementary School’s PTA, site council member, and school volunteer for numerous projects since 1993. She was the founder of the jazz band at Mt. Tabor, and leader of its literature circle from 1999-2005.

Director Sargent and her family live in SE Portland. Her three sons attended Portland Public Schools.
